ABOUT ME
All I ever wanted to do was teach, until one day I didn’t. If you would have asked me 5 years ago where I would be today, I would have said in a preschool classroom.
The day I quit teaching is the day my life changed forever. At that point, I needed to figure out what else I wanted to do for a career. I thought long and hard about different options, until one day it finally clicked. I said to myself, “I live in Nashville, TN and love country music, I am going to figure out how to break into the business side of the music industry.” And that is exactly what I did.
I didn’t know that I wanted to do graphic design, photography or videography when I started. It took me a little while to figure out that is where my passion lied. I began volunteering with Song Suffragettes selling their merch, then worked in promotions for WSM Radio until I was hired full time as a Publicist at 117 Entertainment. It was at that job when I got a crash course in everything music industry related. Having zero experience in publicity and no knowledge of how the music industry actually worked, I had to learn on my feet and pick it up fast.
It was there that I started dabbling in creating social media posts in Canva for clients. I very quickly fell in love with it and became our in-house graphic designer. But I really wanted to learn how to use Photoshop and Illustrator to become a “real graphic designer.” During the Covid lockdown, I began teaching myself how to use those programs and learn design concepts by doing YouTube tutorials and finding graphics in Pinterest to recreate. I quickly picked up new skills and was falling deeper and deeper in love with graphic design.
As my love grew, I knew this was what I wanted to do, so I decided to get my Master in Interactive Media and Communications to take my skills to the next level. While attending Quinnipiac University, I took a class in videography and immediately fell in love. Soon, I was able to add photographer and videographer to my list of skills to offer artists. Now you can find me out and about in Nashville at writer’s rounds and concerts, camera in hand.
If you ask me today where I see myself in 5 years, I’d say as the sole content person for an artist. But come back in 5 years, to actually see where I’ve taken my career.
I’d love to help you with visual content for your music.
Let’s work together to tell your story.
